UPITS 2025 Eyes ₹2,000 Cr MSME Deals

Uttar Pradesh Targets Global Buyers at Trade Show

The Uttar Pradesh government is gearing up to host the third edition of the UP International Trade Show (UPITS) from September 25 to 29, 2025, at the India Expo Mart in Greater Noida. With an ambitious target of securing business deals worth around ₹2,000 crore for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), the event is part of the state’s broader goal to become India’s first $1 trillion economy.

Jointly organised by the Government of Uttar Pradesh and India Exposition Mart, UPITS 2025 will showcase products and innovations under the banners of “Make in UP” and “Made in UP.” The event aims to position Uttar Pradesh as a global sourcing hub for importers, exporters, trading houses, and e-commerce platforms.

According to the state’s MSME, Khadi, and Textile Minister, the show is expected to host approximately 2,400 exhibitors and attract over 125,000 business-to-business (B2B) visitors, 450,000 business-to-consumer (B2C) visitors, more than 550 international buyers from 70 countries, and over 35,000 business meetings. The scale of the event underscores UP’s growing aspirations in the national and global trade landscape.

Benefits of the Trade Show

Events like UPITS offer wide-ranging advantages, especially for MSMEs:

  • MSMEs gain a platform to directly connect with domestic and international buyers, helping them explore new markets.
  • Exhibitors and participants can engage in business matchmaking, form strategic alliances, and build long-term partnerships.
  • For small businesses, such shows provide a rare opportunity to showcase their capabilities and innovations on a large scale.
  • International buyer engagement can directly contribute to boosting exports from the state, particularly in sectors like textiles, handicrafts, food processing, and electronics.
  • Government-led events create a bridge between businesses and policymakers, enabling real-time feedback and targeted support.

Challenges Faced by Participants

Despite the opportunities, several challenges continue to affect participation and impact:

  • Many small enterprises struggle to afford booth rentals, logistics, and promotional expenses without financial support.
  • Limited awareness about international quality standards, packaging norms, and certification requirements can hinder export-readiness.
  • Post-event follow-up is often weak, and MSMEs may lack the resources or support systems to convert leads into actual business.
  • Interacting with international buyers can be challenging without trained staff or translation support.
  • Even with government support, last-mile connectivity, logistics, and timely access to raw materials remain concerns for some exhibitors.

To enhance its outreach, the Uttar Pradesh government has launched a series of pre-event roadshows in cities like New Delhi, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru, with upcoming events planned in Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and others. At the Bengaluru roadshow, over 250 industrialists and exporters from sectors including food processing, machinery, electronics, handicrafts, and apparel participated, reflecting growing interest across industries.

Following the success of the 2024 edition — where Vietnam served as the partner country and deals worth ₹600 crore were reportedly generated — UPITS 2025 is expected to further boost the visibility and growth trajectory of MSMEs in the state. The event serves not just as a trade platform but also as a signal of Uttar Pradesh’s larger economic ambitions on the national and global stage.
