BEE Initiative Fuels 8K MSMEs
The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) is set to benefit over 8,000 Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through the **Assistance for Development of Energy Efficient Technologies in Industrial Establishments (ADEETIE)** scheme. This initiative aims to drive investments exceeding ₹9,000 crore in energy-efficient technologies, according to BEE Secretary Milind Deora.
Designed for phased implementation across India, the ADEETIE scheme will initially focus on energy-intensive MSME clusters in key sectors such as foundry, pharmaceuticals, textiles, paper, and fisheries. The first phase will target industries in **Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala**.
As part of the Ministry of Power’s efforts to promote energy-efficient practices, the scheme introduces a **technology-enabled financial incentive program** to encourage MSMEs to upgrade their operations. This initiative offers **investment-grade energy audits, technical assistance, and fiscal incentives**, including **interest subvention on loans**, to reduce financial barriers for MSMEs adopting energy-efficient technologies.
Speaking at the **Indo-German Energy Partnership National Summit**, Milind Deora emphasized that ADEETIE is more than just a financial support program. He highlighted its role in **unlocking the potential of MSMEs, driving energy savings, and enhancing global competitiveness**. BEE Director Shyam Sunder further outlined the scheme’s comprehensive implementation strategy, reinforcing its long-term vision for the MSME sector.
