PM Modi Launches 511 Skill Centers in Maharashtra to Boost Rural Employment

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently launched 511 Pramod Mahajan Grameen Kaushalya Vikas Kendras in rural areas across 34 districts in Maharashtra.

These skill development centers are named after late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan and aim to prepare rural youth for employment opportunities.

Each center will train about 100 youngsters in at least two vocational courses, with training provided by industry partners and agencies under the National Skill Development Council.

The establishment of these centers is expected to enhance the region's skilled workforce and provide job-oriented training to rural youth.

PM Modi stressed the importance of skill development programs and urged state governments to expand such initiatives to promote self-reliance.

He emphasized the need for new skills in various sectors, including manufacturing, industry 4.0, the service sector, and the knowledge economy, as well as the development of online training modules for soft skills. He also highlighted the positive impact of skill development programs during his tenure, benefiting tribal, poor, Dalit, and backward class youth.

Additionally, PM Modi mentioned the need for new skills in the agriculture sector, such as natural farming, processing, value addition, packaging, and branding of farm produce. Minister of Skills, Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation in Maharashtra, Mangal Prabhat Lodha, praised the initiative and highlighted the importance of preventing rural youth from migrating to cities for employment, with plans to increase the number of such centers in the future.
