Ministry of Trade Records IDR 178 Billion of SME Export

Trade Minister Agus Suparmanto said  that there are 54 small-medium enterprises (SME) that have successfully penetrated the global market with a total export value of USD 12.29 million, which equals to IDR 178.25 billion.

During an event at the Bogor Palace, Agus said that in total, 133 companies have booked a total of USD 1.64 billion export value, which equals to IDR 23.75 trillion. The 133 companies consist of 79 non SMEs, and 54 SMEs.

"This marks the success of SMEs in penetrating the global market where 54 SMEs successfully carried out export with a total value of 12.29 million US Dollars, which is equals to IDR 178.15 billion," Agus said on Friday December 4, 2020.

Agus added that out of the 79 non-SME companies, one company had successfully carried out its first export of cigars with a value of USD 86,400, which equals to IDR 1.25 billion to Japan.

In addition, 7 non-SME companies conducted diversification by exporting new products such as fish fillet, women's fashion, and toothpaste with a total value if USD 24.42 million, which equals to IDR 354.16 billion.

Meanwhile for SMEs, there are seven companies that have successfully carried out their first export with products such as processed food to Saudi Arabia, cow mattresses to Japan, and palm-leaf rib to India. The export value of these seven companies reaches up to IDR 3 billion in total.

In relation to product diversification, the Trade Minister mentioned that there are 11 SMEs that have successfully carried out its export with a total value of USD 1.16 million, which equals to IDR 16.82 billion.

In the attempt to support the competitiveness of export products, the Ministry of Trade has facilitated export financing to 14 SMEs with a total value of IDR 167 billion.

"The Ministry of Trade will continue to attempt to allow more SMEs and businesses to be able to diversify their export products to increase export product competitiveness," Agus said.
