DigiDukaan Initiative Aims to Digitise Procurement for 1.4 Crore Kirana Stores
The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) and the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) are working to digitally transform India’s General Trade ecosystem through DigiDukaan, an initiative designed to simplify B2B procurement for kirana stores. India’s 1.4 crore kirana stores account for nearly 75 to 80 per cent of FMCG sales, yet many still rely on fragmented ordering systems and manual processes. DigiDukaan aims to improve inventory visibility, access to schemes, order management and working capital efficiency for retailers. It also helps distributors expand market reach digitally while giving brands better visibility into retailer demand and sales trends. The initiative has already onboarded over 10,000 retailers and 35 brands in Hyderabad and is set to launch in Jaipur on June 19, 2026, with expansion planned across Mumbai, Bengaluru and Delhi NCR.
