Skill India Marks 12 Years of Building a Skilled and Future-Ready Workforce

The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has completed 12 years of Skill India, highlighting the growth of one of the world’s largest skilling ecosystems. Under the leadership of Shri Jayant Chaudhary, the Ministry has expanded vocational training, apprenticeships, entrepreneurship development and digital skilling across the country. India’s network of Industrial Training Institutes has grown from 9,776 in 2014 to over 13,888 today. More than 56 lakh apprentices have been engaged since 2016, while over 1.64 crore candidates have been trained under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana. Entrepreneurship programmes have benefited more than 25 lakh individuals. The Skill India Digital Hub now serves over 1.5 crore registered users with more than 1,000 courses available in 23 languages.
