The loans are readily available in three categories: Shishu, Kishore, and Tarun. These categories indicate the beneficiary micro unit's or entrepreneur's stage of growth and development as well as their financial needs. They also serve as a point of reference for the subsequent graduation/growth phase. Shishu loans are intended for startups that need up to a Rs. 50,000 loan for their operations. Kishore loans are intended for established enterprises in need of funding up to Rs. 5 lakh. Established enterprises needing credit up to Rs. 10 lakh can apply for Tarun loans.

PMMY offers a support network for female entrepreneurs. The program helps women who wish to launch their own businesses by offering funding, training, and marketing assistance. This supports women in overcoming obstacles to entrepreneurship and achieving success as business owners.
