Boosting Indian MSMEs: E-Commerce and Lending firms set the Stage for a Festive Season Sales Surge
E-commerce platforms in India are increasingly relying on Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) for higher festive season targets. A recent survey by Redseer shows that 62% of sellers find e-tailing platforms helpful in their festive season planning, up from 53% in the previous year. These platforms have adapted their offerings to better align with seller needs, particularly in areas like data analytics, trend forecasting, and consumer visibility.
Despite only 40% of sellers reporting a 10% increase in sales compared to the previous quarter, there is high anticipation for a surge in festive season sales, especially among MSME sellers, who expect a minimum of 15% growth in online sales compared to the previous year. E-commerce offers various benefits for MSMEs, including broader reach, advanced marketing tools, cost savings by eliminating intermediaries and physical stores, and faster payment settlements.
Amazon India is supporting MSMEs with initiatives such as a 50?e waiver and a referral program for new sellers during the festive season. They also provide training and support to ensure a smooth selling journey and have introduced technological initiatives to make online selling easier.
Business loans to MSMEs are expected to rise by 20% during the festive season, with increased demand due to growing consumer spending. Kinara Capital reports a 150% increase in loan inquiries compared to the previous year, with short-term loans being particularly popular. Component manufacturers in consumer durables, automobile industries, and textiles are driving the demand for business loans.
Godrej Capital offers a 'design your EMI' feature for MSMEs, providing flexibility in loan repayment, and they are running a campaign to create awareness about these options. Customers can also receive rewards for timely repayments.
Overall, e-commerce platforms, financial institutions, and initiatives like those from Amazon India and Godrej Capital are actively supporting MSMEs in India to make the most of the festive season and boost their online sales.
