Delhi govt. slaps show-cause notice on Tata Motors over Nexon EV's performance

The Delhi government recently issued a show-cause notice to Tata Motors because of a complaint filed by a Tata Nexon EV owner. The Delhi resident filed a complaint with the state transport department saying that Tata Nexon EV has failed to perform as expected.

The Delhi Transport Department's notice says that the complaint was received from a Najafgarh resident who bought a Tata Nexon EV XZ+. The complainant noted that though the company claims that the car was capable of delivering a driving range of 312 km per charge, his vehicle has not been able to achieve a range of more than 200 km even after complying with the dealer's advice to address the issue.

Based on this complaint, the home-grown automaker has been sent a
show-cause notice and directed to appear before the deputy commissioner of transport on February 15. The notice further adds that the Delhi government may also consider removing the Tata Nexon EV from the list of electric vehicles eligible to receive subsidies under the purview of the Delhi Electric Vehicle Policy 2020.
