Railway ministry to complete 56 major existing projects in February-March 21 and rest next fiscal

In a bid to boost rail infrastructure as well as to make Indian Railways future-ready, the Railway Ministry has identified a total of 56 projects all across the country in various railway zones to be completed by February-March 2021 and the financial year 2021-22.

This year, the national transporter received the highest ever total plan capex of Rs 2,15,058 crore out of which capital expenditure of Rs 1,07,100 crore has been allocated in the Union Budget.

In a paradigm shift, this time onwards, Indian Railways has focused on the completion of existing rail projects quickly other than simultaneously working on the newly announced projects.

According to the Railway Ministry, the thrust of the Annual Plan for the financial year 2021-22 will be on infra development, improvement of passengers/users’ amenities, throughput enhancement, terminal facilities’ development, augmentation of train speed, signaling systems and safety works of ROBs, RUBs etc.
