By 2021, WhatsApp Will Stop Working on Some Old Operating Systems

Since 2021 comes, the widely popular messaging platform What'sApp will stop working on a number of older iPhones and Android smart phones. Few of them may lose access altogether, while others may not be able to use a few features on this platform.

What'sApp will no longer work on older versions of the operating systems of smart- phones, by the beginning of 2021. The users who are still holding onto the iPhone 4 or lower model will lose access; in the same way, if someone is using a Samsung Galaxy S2 or a lower model, he/she will also not be able to use What'sApp. 

Old smart- phone users who have not upgraded to iOS 9 or above or Android 4.0.3 or above will not be able to run What'sApp. Users who have such phones that will no longer be compatible with What'sApp, in case they want to retain their data, then they must back up their chats/ data earlier than January 1, 2021. Also, it is advised by the makers of the app that the users should update their devices to these versions of their operating system to keep using it. The ones who can’t update will either have to buy a new smart- phone or look for alternatives to What'sApp.

Upgrading the iPhone devices system is easy; users can go into ‘Settings’ followed by ‘General’ and then tap on ‘Software Update’ option. It will help them know which version of the OS they are running, as well as whether they can upgrade or not. On the other hand, Android users will find it in the ‘About Phone’ section in the ‘Settings’ of their smart- phone.

Other popular phones, that will stop running What'sApp, include HTC Sensation, Samsung Google Nexus S, Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc, LG Optimus 2X, Samsung Galaxy S I9000, HTC Desire S and others.
