Nokia to launch smartphone with 5000mAh battery in 2021
Nokia seems to have reached the pinnacle of launching smartphones in 2020. Of all the smartphones it launched, Nokia 8.3 5G stood out because it became the first 5G smartphone in the kitty. But the Nokia 9.3 Pure View could not make it this year even after more than one year since it hit the rumour mill.
Instead, HMD Global has focused on budget and mid-range devices throughout the year. But there are still some devices that are although in the rumour mill but a little dicey as far as their launch. And now we are seeing more information cropping up.
Three Nokia batteries hit the TUV Rheinland Japan and Element Materials Technology certification websites about 10 days ago hinting at least three smartphones since Nokia 3.4 and Nokia 5.4 share the battery specifications right now and their successors might as well.
A Nokia smartphone with more than 5000mAh battery is a move in the right direction. And while it will pit the unknown Nokia device against the likes of Realme, Redmi, Samsung and Motorola smartphones, it will also represent what could be HMD Global's way of officially entering the specifications war.
The company has always sidelined itself from tiring debates that are based on smartphone specifications because for HMD Global, Android experience is the priority. But where that motto has landed HMD Global is evident today. It is not among the top five smartphone vendors and that might be because of the underwhelming competition.
Apart from the 5050mAh battery, the other two that Nokia has got certified are 4470mAh battery and 3900mAh battery. The listing does not tell about any fast charging technologies that these batteries might support but it is highly likely that the 5050mAh battery might feature fast charging.
HMD Global has not been aggressive about fast-charging methods in the market, but I will go out on a limb and assume that the Nokia 9.3 Pure View will be the device with a little over 5000mAh battery capacity and support for fast charging.
But when the Nokia 9.3 will arrive is something that no one knows right now? The last rumours suggest that the Nokia 9.3 PureView will come out sometime in the first half of 2021.
