Government to Open Skill Development Centers in Rural Maharashtra
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched more than 500 Pramod Mahajan Grameen Kaushalya Vikas Kendras in Maharashtra on October 19, aimed at boosting skill development among rural youth. These centers will offer vocational training across various sectors, bridging the gap between industry demand and unemployed youth.
The Indian government has been taking initiatives to empower the youth with industry-relevant skills. One initiative, "Skills on Wheels," involves a customized bus equipped with digital skills tools to train rural youth, particularly women, with the goal of making them job-ready.
In September, the government signed MoUs with IBM to provide courses on emerging technologies like AI, cybersecurity, cloud computing, and professional development skills to empower Indian youth.
"Skill India Digital" is a comprehensive digital platform launched to provide better access to quality skill development, job opportunities, and entrepreneurship support for India's youth.
Additionally, the government entered a three-year partnership with Meta (formerly Facebook) to boost education, skill development, and entrepreneurship. This partnership will provide digital marketing skills training to entrepreneurs, educators, and students in various regional languages.
