Income Tax dept conducts surveys at head offices of Flipkart, Swiggy in Bengaluru

Officials of the Income Tax Department conducted surveys at the head offices of e-commerce giant Flipkart and online food delivery start-up Swiggy in Bengaluru yesterday. The surveys were conducted in connection with a bogus input tax credit (ITC).

A spokesperson of Flipkart has admitted that officials of the I-T department had connected the company.

“We are providing them with all the required information and are extending our full co-operation. We believe we are in full compliance with all applicable tax and legal requirements,” the Flipkart spokesperson added.

Issuing a comment, Swiggy said, "As a law-abiding company, we are in full compliance with the tax and legal mandates. The survey by the IT officials is currently underway and our team is extending full cooperation in the matter."
