MSME Registration Platform has crossed 3 crore registrations in October 2023
Udyam Crosses the 3 Crore Registrations Mark
The Udyam platform, which is the government's online MSMEs registration portal, has crossed over 3 crore registrations in just three years and four months since its launch. The 3 crore registered enterprises, including 96.72 lakh non-GST small businesses registered on the Udyam Assist platform, have been reflected on the Udyam platform since October 27th, 2023.
The MSME Ministry has authorized Udyam as the only platform for the registration of micro, small, and medium-sized businesses with a maximum revenue of Rupees 250 crores. Out of the 3 crore enterprises registered on the platform, 2.93 crores are micro-enterprises, making up the majority of the registered businesses, 53,935 are medium-sized businesses and 5.78 lahks are small businesses. Over 14.87 crore individuals were employed by these businesses overall, with 3.37 crore of the workers being women.
Based on state-specific registration data, Maharashtra topped the table with more than 35 lakh businesses, followed by Tamil Nadu (20.5 lakh), Uttar Pradesh (19.13 lakh), Gujarat (14.87 lakh), and Rajasthan (14.84 lakh). The 2.03 crore GST-registered MSMEs consisted of 1.49 crore service providers and 53.41 lakh manufacturing firms. Of them, 1.92 lakh MSMEs export, with a total export value of more than Rs 15 lakh crore in goods and services.
This significant achievement demonstrates how well-received and widely used the Udyam registration platform is among Indian MSMEs. These businesses are a major source of employment and economic growth in the nation, and the platform is essential to their formalization and support. It also shows how the government is working to support and ease the expansion of MSMEs by giving them an easy-to-use registration procedure.
