Registering on GeM Portal: A Guide

To sell goods and services directly to the government digitally via the GeM portal, businesses can register on the Udyam portal. Registering on Udyam allows MSMEs to be automatically registered on the GeM portal as well. The registration process involves providing Aadhaar and PAN details, selecting the type of organization, and indicating interest in registering on the GeM portal. After successful registration, an Udyam registration number and certificate will be provided.

To register on the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal via the Udyam registration portal, follow these steps:

  1. Visit the Udyam registration website at udyamregistration.gov.in.
  2. Click on the option "For new entrepreneurs who are not registered yet as MSME or those with EM-II" if you are not registered on UAM (Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum). If you want to switch from UAM, click on "For those already having registration as UAM".
  3. Enter your Aadhaar number and name as per Aadhaar. Click on "validate and generate OTP" to verify your Aadhaar. The Aadhaar number of the proprietor, managing partner, or karta (in the case of a Hindu Undivided Family) is required, depending on the type of organization.
  4. If your organization is a limited liability partnership, cooperative society, society, or trust, the authorized signatory should provide the GSTIN, PAN, and Aadhaar details.
  5. Enter the OTP received and click on "validate" to complete the verification process.
  6. Select the "type of organization" from the dropdown menu, such as proprietary, partnership, LLP, or private limited company, and enter your PAN for verification.
  7. Once the PAN is verified, click on "Continue." This will take you to another window with 27 different information fields to fill out.
  8. In point number 22 of the form, you will be asked if you are interested in getting registered on the GeM portal. Select "Yes".
  9. You can also choose to simultaneously register on other government portals for MSMEs, such as TReDS, National Career Service, and NSIC B2B.
  10. After filling out the entire form, click on "Submit and Get Final OTP."
  11. Upon successful registration, you will receive a "Thank You" message on your mobile number and email ID, along with your Udyam registration number.
  12. The registration certificate will be shared with you via email and will contain a QR Code through which details about your enterprise can be accessed.

Please note that if you want to register on GeM separately, you will need a mobile number linked to your Aadhaar and a NIC registered email ID.
