Government Launches TEAM & Yashasvini to Help Small Businesses

The Ministry of MSME has introduced a new program to help MSMEs sell their products online. This program, called the Trade Enablement & Marketing (TEAM) scheme, was announced on June 27, 2024, on International MSME Day by the Hon'ble Union Minister of MSME, Shri Jitan Ram Manjhi.

What is the TEAM Scheme?

The TEAM scheme will run for three years, from 2024 to 2027, and has a budget of INR 277.35 crores. Its main goal is to help small businesses use a government-backed online shopping system called Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC).

How Will It Help MSMEs?

Many small businesses find it hard to sell online because they don't have the right technology, enough money, or the confidence to use digital platforms. The TEAM scheme will help these businesses in several ways:

1. It will help them create online catalogs of their products.

2. It will assist them in joining the ONDC platform.

3. It will provide support in managing their online accounts.

4. It will offer money to help with transportation, delivery, and packaging costs.

Who Can Benefit?

The scheme is open to MSMEs that have UDYAM registration. The ministry hopes that 500,000 businesses will benefit from this scheme over three years. More Importantly, the ministry aims at benefiting half of these businesses that are owned by women.

To make sure MSMEs know about this scheme and use this new scheme, the government plans to organize 150 workshops about e-commerce. These workshops will be held in tier-2 & tier-3 cities.

Yashasvini Campaign:

Along with the TEAM scheme, the government also announced a campaign called Yashasvini. This campaign aims to support 100,000 women entrepreneurs in tier-2 & tier-3 cities by providing them with training and helping them build their skills.

This plan focuses on six main areas, including making it easier for businesses to get loans, helping them sell more products, improving their technology, enhancing their skills, supporting traditional industries, and empowering women and artisans.
