MoMSME Wins the Digital India Awards 2020 - Open Data Champion Award

Hon'ble President of India Shri Ram Nath Kovind graced the occasion of Digital India Awards 2020 virtually today and conferred the awards to the winners. National Informatics Centre (NIC) under Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) conducted the biennial Digital India Awards (DIA) 2020 to promote Innovation in eGovernance and Digital Transformation of Government Service Delivery Mechanism. This year, for the first time, the entire process for DIA, from submitting nominations to screening of the entries to final conferring of the awards was done completely online.

Union Minister of Law & Justice, Communications and Electronics & Information Technology Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad, Secretary (MeitY) Shri Ajay Sawhney and other dignitaries attended the event virtually from multiple locations including the Plenary Hall, Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, Kolkata, Bhopal, and Chennai.

In the sixth edition of the Digital India Awards, a number of 24 teams have participated across seven categories

The 6th Digital India Awards 2020 have been awarded under the six categories; and the Jury Choice Award was conferred to honour excellence in design and implementation of National Public Digital Platform:

1. Innovation in Pandemic Award

2. Excellence in Digital Governance – Central Ministry & Department Award

3. Excellence in Digital Governance – STATE & UT Award

4. Excellence in Digital Governance – DISTRICT Award

5. Open Data Champion Award

6. Exemplary Product Award

7. Jury Choice Award

The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) received the Digital India Award 2020 under the Open Data Champion Category, in a function at Vigyan Bhawan. The function was graced by Hon’ble President of India.

The Authorities from MoMSME who attended the ceremony were Mr. A K Sharma, Secretary Ministry of MSME, Mr. D K Singh, AS & DC Ministry of MSME, Mr. D P Srivastava, Deputy Director General, o/o DCMSME, Sh Shubhendu Kumar, Sr. Technical Director, Ministry of MSME.

"Being nodal Officer of the Ministry, I thank my Statistics and Data Division and NIC team for their contribution in such a big achievement," said Mr. D P Srivastava, Deputy Director General, o/o DCMSME.

The incremental spread of internet and mobile utilization empowers citizens to benefit from government services by simply using any digital device wherever they are at any time. Through the Digital India Awards programme, India stepped in a trajectory to empower its citizens by using Information & Communications Technologies (ICT).
